About bubi and you

bubi and you is more than just a shop—it's a piece of my heart that I put into every single handmade or carefully selected piece. I create personalized knitted sweaters, hats, and scarves that are not only cozy and unique, but also full of love. Each piece tells a little story—just like my journey here.

My story

Sewing has been a part of my life since I was a child. I learned it at school, but it really got exciting when I secretly sat at my mom's sewing machine. She wasn't impressed, of course, but I just couldn't help myself – I had to sew!

After studying law and moving to Germany, I took a few German courses. Afterward, I worked in foreign trade. My son was born in 2014. Suddenly, I had this dream: I wanted to sew him special, handmade clothes. I bought my first sewing machine and looked for cool fabrics. Back then, stars were all the rage. At first, I only sewed for my son, but then parents from kindergarten and friends asked if I could make something for them, too. It was nice, but it remained more of a hobby.

When my daughter was born in 2020, I discovered the beautiful fabrics from Family Fabrics – and I was hooked! I knew immediately: I had to have these fabrics. At the same time, I had the idea of personalizing my pieces with cords. It felt so special!

On May 1, 2021, I took the plunge and created an Instagram page: b ubi handmade – named after the sweet nickname my son gave his little sister. A few days later, the first order came in from my first Instagram customer, Lisa. I couldn't believe it! Full of excitement, I ran to my husband and told him everything. Then I started posting my finished items – and the number just kept growing.

Back then, it took me almost three hours to make one sweater! At some point, I realized: I needed an online shop! And then something magical happened: My first personalized knitted sweater for my daughter was featured online – and people loved it! It was as if a spark had been ignited. My little passion project grew and grew.

When my parental leave ended, I couldn't just give up sewing. So I worked on the orders in the evenings, after the kids were asleep. It was so fulfilling. Funnily enough, I had a little dream as a child: to become a designer. Today, I've fulfilled that dream in my own way.

At the end of 2022, an article about me was published in the local newspaper Die Harke . But shortly before that, something terrible happened: My Instagram account, with over 8,500 followers, was hacked. No lawyer, no contact with Instagram – nothing helped. Everything was gone. It was a hard blow, but I didn't let it get me down. I started over. bubi handmade eventually became bubi and you – because my things aren't just for little boys, but for all of you.

Today, I look back on my journey with gratitude. Every single order means so much to me. I appreciate every message, every piece of feedback, and every smile my pieces bring. Thank you for being part of this journey! 💛
